Ian was elected as a public governor in July 2008. He leads the governors' initiatives on monitoring and improving the QVH patient experience. He was appointed Governor Representative in April 2010 and attends the monthly meetings of the QVH board of directors.

Ian lives in Crowborough and is married with three children who have 'flown the roost'. He is an accountant and retired in 2003 from a career in internal audit and risk management in local government, telecommunications and, latterly, banking. He and his daughter have been patients at QVH and he is enjoying being able to give back to the hospital. He is also a magistrate and school governor.
